MAEP and Vouchers - Keep Calling!

Posted 3/22/17

Legislators are getting mixed signals about the timing of the MAEP revamp bill, with some saying a special session could come any day and some saying it will be delayed. The public remains in the dark.

Meanwhile, with about a week left in the legislative session, the deadline is looming for final votes on the K-12 funding bill (which, in its current form, provides flat MAEP funding for FY18) and the voucher bill, HB 1046. Please stay in touch with your legislators over the next week with this message:

No special session on the MAEP rewrite until multiple public hearings have been held across the state, and no public money going to private schools!

We have heard from many legislators this week who share our passion for public schools. Calls from home give them the support they need to fight for our public schools. We've got one more week! Let's pull out all the stops and move this session across the finish line with a win for our children. Ask everyone you know to call. Together, we've got this!
